A Proud Milestone: My Books Join the African Studies Centre Library at Leiden University
At this moment, I was overwhelmed with joy as my books Ladimeh, Not Forsaken, and Ancestor Prologue found a home in the library of the African Studies Centre at Leiden University in the Netherlands.
As an African author and a student, it was deeply fulfilling to witness the immense value and pride attached to African literature and scholarship at such a prestigious institution; one that enjoys royal recognition in the Netherlands. It was a powerful reminder that African stories matter and that our voices continue to shape global knowledge and understanding.
My profound appreciation goes to Prof. Marleen for her unwavering commitment to the African Studies Centre at Leiden University, where scholars continuously seek out African literary works and intellectual contributions to enrich the library’s collections. Indeed, the pictures tell the story: the library is monumental, inspiring, and serves as an important gateway to African literature in the Netherlands and across Europe.
Once again, my heartfelt gratitude to Marleen, Maaike, and David for making this memorable moment possible. I remain truly grateful.
